I just recently returned for my 8th trip to India.  We took part in a BioSand Water Filter construction project.  We learned to make Water Filters from common materials found everywhere in the world (sand, gravel, concrete, etc.).

These inexpensive filters kill waterborne contaminants and prevent most waterborne diseases.

The participants in the training are encouraged to start a small business that can be self-sustaining in a very short time, constructing and selling the water filters to those in nearby villages.

We had 8 nationals from 3 different states.  It looks like there will be some ready to launch a small startup business in the months to come.
